How to tell if your computer needs maintenance.
Regularly maintained PCs, perform better.
Commonly computers suffer from chronic poor performance, rather than just refusing to start. They can be frustrating to use in this state, and may decline to the point where they take ages to perform the most minor task.
Reading the signs.
Some "tell tale" symptoms of a "sick computer".
- Computer will not shut down properly.
- The PC tests the hard drive on every start up, and complains of "improper shut down".
- Computer running slowly - less responsive.
- Computer constantly locks up.
- Computer clock cannot keep time accurately.
- Computer unexpectedly switches off.
- Constant error messages.
- Noisy fans and unusual sounds from the computer.
What should you if you have these problems ?

It is important that you address any of the problems above, as in many cases, these problems can lead to more serious problems. You should try to:
- Try to make backup copies of important files
- Make a note of error messages
- Avoid constant restarting a crashing PC
